Veneers
What are dental veneers?
Veneers involve covering the outer surface of the tooth with ultra-thin porcelain shells, typically 0.2–0.5 mm thick. They can be applied to a single tooth or used for full-mouth rehabilitation. Veneers allow for the correction of tooth shape, size, and color. This method is widely used in aesthetic dentistry and enables us to enhance a patient's smile with minimal loss of natural tooth structure.
Indication
When are dental veneers used?
Undesired color
Its advantage lies in color stability — unlike therapeutic (composite) restorations, it does not change color or lose its shine. It also allows for whitening teeth by several shades.
Undesirable shape
Many people are concerned about uneven tooth size and shape, as well as gaps between teeth (tremas and diastemas), which cause aesthetic discomfort. Veneers allow for the correction of tooth shape and size, as well as the closure of tremas and diastemas.
Tooth wear
Physiological wear occurs with aging and results in a gradual shortening of the tooth length, but it does not cause functional changes.
Pathological wear is the progressive loss of the tooth’s hard tissues, which leads to changes in tooth shape and gradually impairs normal function.
Tooth alignment
Veneers improve teeth both aesthetically and functionally. They restore tooth shape, color, and alignment within the dental arch, while also enhancing chewing function, which is very important for overall health.
